IT’S HERE. IT ARRIVED WITH ME ON SATURDAY MORNING, AT THE VERY START OF THE THOUGHTBUBBLE COMIC CONVENTION IN LEEDS. THE CAT AND MERINGUE 1000 DAYS OF ADVENTURE, HARDBACK COLLECTED EDITION!!
The thing’s a monster and I’m so happy with it! Check out some more views!
It got a lot of attention at the convention. It needs to be seen to be believed. Its very weighty with a gorgeous gloss finish and the director’s commentary band runs through the edge of the pages just perfectly. If you pledged to receive one on my kickstarter then they will be going out over the next couple of weeks. If you’d like to own one they will be up on my Comicsy store very soon.
So, Thoughtbubble was an amazing show all round. Here’s Ali modelling the Nichangell Comix table with all her glamorous glory. (She makes my comics look good). It was ace to catch up with all the hardcore UK comix family and to hang out with good friends. A kickass end and celebration of the comics year. Jon Lock and I also had a panel at the event, talking about The Heavenly Chord crossover and thinking big in smallpress. It went down a storm and we got some amazing feedback afterwards which has served only to fire us up further with our big future collaborative plans.
Big Punch Studios is a full creative partnership and is thinking very big. With the Heavenly Chord crossover of our two major graphic novel series proving to be more groundbreaking and revolutionary than we had initially imagined (according to fan response) we are looking only to build on it. Big Punch is the beginning of something huge and special… I can’t wait to show you all some of the stuff we’re planning!
I also had the absolute HONOUR of meeting and even hanging out in the bar with one of my all time comic artist heroes, Brandon Graham. Brandon’s been a huge inspiration to me from the earliest days of my comics career and to sit down with the bloke over a drink was awesome. He even drew this amazing sketch of a girl on the back of one of his comics I own. WEEKEND MADE.
I also chucked a quick Cable sketch onto a blank variant at the con. Pretty happy with how he came out. Always fun to do blank variants (if by fun you mean TERRIFYING) and here’s a little preview of the pinup I did for the awesome collected hardback Dead Roots anthology from legendary writer Mike Garley. Mike was kind enough to write some really touching words in the front of the C&M book as a foreword too… what a guy ey?
So yeah, i think that’s everything! My store will be updated over the next couple of days with Tabby and Trout and Cat and Meringue. Until then, so much love.
NICH ANGELL OUT!
